An Apple a day…..
Have you met your daily dose of fruits and vegetables?
You need 2 cups fruit and 2 1/2 cup vegetables/day….
Try to eat seasonal fruits and vegetables since it is full of nutrients and reasonably priced!
The Fall is upon us which means apple picking season has arrived!
Apples are among the top 20 best antioxidant sources. Did you know that two thirds of the antioxidants are actually found in its skin? So expects recommend to wash apples well with warm water before eating them. Make sure your hands are clean before you wash apples. You may use a drop of vinegar or baking soda to wash apples to remove any pesticide residue. Or, you may also invest purchasing organic apples since they contain less pesticide residue.
Look at some of the health benefits of an apple.
1. Boost weight loss: Eating an apple will promote weight loss since it is lower in calories and also packed with both insoluble and soluble fiber.
2. Brain Health: A quercetin, a flavonoid found in apples may protect against oxidative brain damage that can lead to memory loss. Therefore, apples can help to prevent age-related memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease.
3. Cancer Prevention: A quercetin is also known to help prevent different types of cancers including breast, pancreatic, colon, liver, prostate, and bowel.
